What are the processes of rolling stainless steel plate

Stainless steel rolled material is a kind of stainless steel material with a very high usage rate in the market, and its price is much cheaper than that of regular material. The general processing process of stainless steel rolled materials mainly includes pickling, cold rolling, lubrication, annealing and smoothing.

pickling
After the stainless steel coil is rolled, if it is not treated, it is easy to react with the air to form iron oxide. This is because the atmosphere always has a certain humidity, and it will rust on the steel surface after a long time. Therefore, it is necessary to use a continuous pickling unit to remove the iron oxide on the surface of the hot-rolled coil. Sulfuric acid was used as the acid solution before, but hydrochloric acid is mostly used now. Before the pickling operation, it must be welded and coiled, and some must be continuously black annealed. After the pickling is completed, the stainless steel coils should be cleaned, dried, trimmed and divided into coils.
cold rolled
After pickling, the stainless steel slab is rolled to the finished thickness on a cold rolling mill, usually without intermediate annealing. The five-stand tandem rolling mill usually has a total reduction ratio of 60-80% for cold rolling, and mainly rolls cold-rolled stainless steel sheets with a thickness of 0.3-3mm. The six-stand continuous rolling mill mainly rolls stainless steel sheets with a thickness of 0.15-0.5mm, and the total cold rolling reduction rate is usually 70-90%. The distribution of the reduction amount of each stand in rolling is based on the corresponding pressure, power and speed of the rolling mill, and needs to be integrated and formulated by considering factors such as output and quality.
lubricating
This step acts as lubrication and cooling. Generally, emulsion with excellent cooling performance can be used, and pure oil lubricant with high lubricating performance can be used when rolling thin or hard stainless steel plates, such as palm oil for rolling stainless steel plates.
annealing
The purpose of annealing is to eliminate cold rolling work hardening, so that the stainless steel plate can be recrystallized and softened, and it has excellent plasticity. The annealing method adopts coil annealing in bell furnace and continuous furnace annealing. Coil annealing includes tight coil annealing and loose coil annealing; continuous furnace annealing includes vertical continuous furnace annealing and horizontal continuous furnace annealing. The furnace is usually filled with protective gas.
Currently bell furnaces are mainly used for annealing. Although the processing time is longer, due to the large number of furnaces and the flexible use, investment can be effectively saved. The output of continuous furnace annealing is higher, and the horizontal continuous furnace annealing is only used to process special stainless steel with low output.
smooth
The last operation is leveling, the purpose of which is to prevent the plastic instability of the annealed stainless steel plate during stamping and increase the quality of the stainless steel plate.
