2507 duplex stainless steel is mainly composed of 25% chromium, 4% molybdenum and 7% nickel. Its strength and corrosion resistance are relatively strong, and most of them are used in chemical processing, petrochemical and subsea equipment and other fields. It has strong resistance to chloride corrosion, high thermal conductivity and low thermal expansion coefficient.
The impact strength of 2507 duplex stainless steel is also very high, and it is not suitable for temperatures above 570°F. In such an environment for a long time, the toughness of the material will be significantly reduced.
2507 duplex stainless steel contains high chromium and molybdenum, which makes it have strong resistance to overall corrosion such as formic acid and acetic acid. 2507 duplex stainless steel also has relatively strong corrosion resistance to inorganic acids, especially those containing chlorides. Compared with 904L stainless steel, 2507 stainless steel is more resistant to diluted sulfuric acid mixed with chloride ions. What needs to be known is that 904L is a stainless steel in the austenitic state, specially designed to resist pure sulfuric acid corrosion.
2507 duplex stainless steel can also be used in dilute hydrochloric acid environment, and also has relatively good resistance to spot damage and crevice corrosion.
The lower carbon content of 2507 duplex stainless steel can greatly reduce the risk of carbide precipitation in the intergranular during heat treatment, so the material also has a very strong resistance to carbide-related intergranular corrosion.
The dual-phase structure of 2507 stainless steel makes it have relatively good resistance to stress corrosion cracking. And its corrosion resistance and strength are better than 2205.
Cracks are basically unavoidable in building materials, which makes stainless steel more susceptible to corrosion in chloride environments. 2507 duplex stainless steel has very strong resistance to crack corrosion.
2507 duplex stainless steel also has very high compressive strength, impact strength and low thermal expansion coefficient and high thermal conductivity. Such properties are ideal for many structural and mechanical components.
Many common stainless steel forming methods are suitable for 2507 duplex stainless steel and austenitic stainless steel, which has a very high yield strength and lower flexibility.
2507 duplex stainless steel should be solution annealed and quenched after hot forming or cold forming. The solution annealing temperature should not be less than 1925°F, followed by an air or water quench immediately. In order to obtain the ideal corrosion resistance, the stainless steel material after heat treatment also needs to be treated with salting and rinsing.
