Is 430 stainless steel or stainless iron?

430 stainless steel is a typical material of ferrite. It is also the most widely used and most used stainless steel among the 400 series stainless steel. It is also called stainless steel. As a representative steel type of ferrite, it contains 16%-18% chromium element, basically contains no nickel metal, and adds the stabilizing element titanium, so it is also called 18Cr stainless steel.
The national standard grade of 430 stainless steel is 1Cr17. It is characterized by low price, magnetic properties, good ductility, good thermal conductivity, small thermal expansion coefficient, good mechanical properties of heat fatigue resistance weld parts, good corrosion resistance, and good chloride stress corrosion resistance.

In contrast, although 430 stainless steel has better chloride stress corrosion resistance than 304 stainless steel, better thermal conductivity than austenite, and smaller thermal expansion coefficient than austenite, its processing performance and welding performance are not as good as 300 series stainless steel. This is also greatly limits its scope of use.

Although 430 stainless steel does not contain nickel, it also has better corrosion resistance? Why is this? First of all, chromium and nickel have different divisions of labor in terms of corrosion resistance. Chromium mainly prevents rust caused by natural oxidation, while nickel mainly prevents corrosion by chemical media. Secondly, when stainless steel contains more than 12% chromium, it can well prevent oxidation corrosion in the natural environment. So this is the reason why 430 stainless steel has better corrosion resistance.
430 stainless steel is also widely used in daily necessities in our lives, such as knives and forks, kitchen utensils, household appliance casings, etc. It is also used in building decoration, fuel burner parts, heat-resistant appliances, burners, etc.
