What impact does low temperature environment have on stainless steel?
First: the strength will decrease, because the low temperature will lead to a tight lattice structure and the movement between atoms will slow down, thus weakening the plasticity of the material.
Second: The toughness is reduced. The crystal structure of the metal will become more brittle at low temperatures and prone to fracture.

Third, it is beneficial to corrosion resistance. In low temperature environments, the activity of corrosive media such as water containing chloride will be reduced. This reduces the corrosion rate of stainless steel.

What stainless steels can withstand low temperatures of -100°C?
First: 304L stainless steel, national standard brand: 022Cr19Ni10, can be used in low temperature environments above -196°C, and its low temperature impact toughness is good. In a low temperature environment of more than -100°C, the risk of material embrittlement and fracture is relatively small.
Second: 316L stainless steel, national standard brand: 022Cr17Ni12Mo2, the operating temperature can generally reach -269°C. Under extremely low temperature conditions, such as liquid nitrogen -196°C, and liquid oxygen -183°C, 316L stainless steel can still maintain good performance. When the temperature drops to -269°C, the strength and toughness of 316L stainless steel may be reduced due to the influence of low temperature.

What stainless steels can withstand temperatures above 1000°C?
First: 309S stainless steel, national standard brand: 06Cr23Ni13, heat-resistant temperature up to 1050°C, can be repeatedly heated below 980°C, can be used for a long time with a large load between 650~700°C, has excellent high temperature acid resistance and resistance to High temperature strength.
Second: 310S stainless steel, national standard brand: 06Cr25Ni20, the heat-resistant temperature can reach 1200°C, and can be used continuously below 1150°C. It is the mainstream brand of heat-resistant steel.
