Introduction
ASTM A387 specification covers chromium-molybdenum alloy steel plates for welded boilers and pressure vessels manufactured for elevated temperature service. Available steel plate grades are 2, 12, 11, 22, 22L, 21, 21L, 5, 9 and 91. Steel product shall be killed and heat treated. The petrochemical, hydrocarbon processing and coal conversion industries have been utilizing this steel for decades, it varies according to the chromium and molybdenum. Most commonly used are Grade 12, 11, 22, and 5. Further more, these grades are available in 2 strength levels-class1 and class2.
The Chemical Composition remains the same in both Class 1 and Class 2 (Cl1 and Cl2) but the only Difference is in the Mechanical Properties which is mentioned in below Table.
