ASTM A738 is a kind of C-Mn-Si steel plates material used to fabric middle or low temperature pressure vessels. Obviously, A738 is divided into three grades or levels :A738 Gr. A, A738 Gr. B, A738 Gr. C .In order to meet the property requirement of ASTM A738/A738M standard, this material must be done heat-treatment.
Grade A plates 2.5 in. [65 mm] and under in thickness shall be supplied in either the normalized or quenched and tempered condition. Grade A plates over 2.5 in. [65 mm] in thickness and Grade B and Grade C plates in all thicknesses shall be quenched-and-tempered. When plates are tempered, the minimum tempering temperature shall be 1100℉ [595℃].
