What is the difference between cold rolled steel and stainless steel

Date:2022-12-16View:353Tags:

The difference between stainless steel and cold rolled steel is very big. The maximum thickness of common cold-rolled steel is 8mm. Generally, hot-rolled steel coils are used as raw materials to produce beautiful and useful cold-rolled steel. Each coil can reach 13.5 tons. Unlike stainless steel, stainless steel has no specified thickness, and its raw materials are generally not limited to steel, but also nickel, chromium, and molybdenum, all of which belong to metals. Stainless steel has a certain corrosion resistance, and ordinary chemical properties will not make it corrode.

Difference:
     ①Stainless steel is a type of steel, and cold-rolled steel is a type of steel!
     ②Stainless steel refers to steel that is resistant to weak corrosive media such as air, steam, water, and chemically corrosive media such as acid, alkali, and salt. It is also called stainless acid-resistant steel. In practical applications, the steel resistant to weak corrosion medium is often called stainless steel, and the steel resistant to chemical medium corrosion is called acid-resistant steel. Due to the difference in chemical composition between the two, the former is not necessarily resistant to chemical media corrosion, while the latter is generally stainless.

The corrosion resistance of stainless steel depends on the alloying elements contained in the steel. The basic alloying elements of stainless steel include nickel, molybdenum, titanium, niobium, copper, nitrogen, etc., to meet the requirements of various uses for the structure and performance of stainless steel. Stainless steel is easily corroded by chloride ions, because chromium, nickel, and chlorine are isotopic elements, which will be exchanged and assimilated to form corrosion of stainless steel.
     Cold-rolled steel is made of hot-rolled coils, which are rolled at room temperature below the recrystallization temperature, including plates and coils. Many domestic steel mills such as Baosteel, Wuhan Iron and Steel, and Anshan Iron and Steel can produce them. Among them, those delivered in sheets are called steel plates, also known as box plates or flat plates;
     ③ General cold-rolled steel: refers to products rolled into plates in the general carbon steel category (usually rolled into a coil), and others include bars, wires, etc.
     Stainless steel refers to alloy steel added with Cr, Ni and other elements. The representative steel type is 304 stainless steel. Stainless steel also distinguishes plates, bars, profiles, wires, etc.
     ④Cold-rolled steel: It has high strength, but poor toughness and weldability, relatively hard, brittle, and bright surface.
     Stainless steel: beautiful surface and diversified use possibilities, good corrosion resistance, longer durability than ordinary steel, good corrosion resistance and high strength, so the possibility of using thin plates is high, high temperature oxidation resistance and high strength, so it can resist fire and process at room temperature, that is, easy Because plastic processing does not require surface treatment, it is simple, easy to maintain and clean, and has high smoothness and good welding performance.
